Calli walked through the book store. She loved to read, and, even though her parents had a lot of money, she never bought books. It made no sense to her. You read the book, and chances were, she never would pick it up again. So, she went and picked a book, and read it in the store. And, that is what she planned on doing.
She scanned the shelves, and found a book that look interesting. "The Truth About Forever" by Sarah Dessen. She had read other books by Sarah Dessen, and liked them all. It was a pretty big book, but she read fast. She grabbed her phone out of her pocket. 8:32, was the time. She was going to time herself. Her mom would pick her up at four, so she had some time to waste. She opened the book. It was pretty good.
When she finished the book, she pulled out her phone again. 2:57. She had spent a lot of time reading that book. She read non stop, she didn't even go to eat lunch. She felt her stomach growl, and she stood up. She should probably call her mom, and ask her to pick her up early, but Calli was to lazy to do that. She put the book back unto the shelf, and sat back down. She was looking for someone who seemed just as bored as she.
Calli was the type of person to walk up, and start talking to people randomly. Even if she didn't know them, if you were listening, you would assume she knew that person. She might seem like an idiot, but she didn't care. She was knew to Ranton, so she might as well make a couple friends.

Jackie was working a two hour shift because it was her first day on the job. She had got into work at 1:00.
For the first time since she got into work she looked at the clock. It was nearly time for her to leave work and head back to her room, but she had been watching the girl in the corner of the shop turning the pages of the new book. She had been wanting to talk to her, but each time she was about to leave the cheack-out someone would come in and ask her if they had such and such book.
The person who would work the rest of the day came in. The girl dumped down her bags behind the check-out and fiddled around with her make-up and hair. Soon enough the next shift worker was ready to start and Jackie quickly dashed of to the girl she had been watching all day.
"Hi, I'm Jackie. Jackie Chapel," she said holding out her hand welcomingly, "I think I've seen you around at Ranton before."
Jackie glanced back at the door as someone worked in, but she remembered she wasn't on shift and went back to talking to the girl, "Do you like the shop? I just started working her I'm only just getting my head around things hear, but I bet it will be fun."

Calli yawned, and crossed her legs. It was boring, and she still had a lot of time to waste. She pulled out her phone. It might as well text Cade. she started typing words into her phone, pretty quickly. 'Hey, whatcha doin'?' She put in, then pressed the send button. He was probably just watching TV, like he was when she left, but who knew, he might actually be doing something fun. Turned her phone off silent to the quietest ringer, and put it back into her pocket.
Calli was staring at the ground, completely zoned out, when a girl walked up. Calli looked up, the girl had the bookstores uniform on, Calli didn't like people who worked at stores, they always ask if you needed help, or yelled at Calli for ruining a book they were supposed to sell. She looked into her eyes, Calli had a quick way to save herself, to prove to the girl that she wasn't doing anything wrong. But she listened to what the girl was introducing herself.
Calli smiled. "I'm Calli Adams, like what they call this state." People always said, 'OMG, like the state?' Where she used to live. Now, it was kind of funny, that she lived there, and had the same name. "Probably not, we just moved here yesterday." She said about Jackie seeing her around Ranton before, she just moved in yesterday, and she was in the house most of the time. She listened to what else she had to say. "Yeah, it's different from the store back home." 'Well, my old home,' she thought with a smile.

"Cool," she said in reply to her just moving in two days ago, "Well, I've always lived near Ranton, but not really living in it. I only moved here because of the highschool I'm going to."
Calli seemed like a nice girl and Jackie wanted to keep the conversation going. She was trying to get as many "know-whos" as she could before the school term started. She didn't want to be totaly friendless. She remember that Ranton High was what she had in common with most other people her age.
"So, where do you go to school?" she asked Calli.
She looked around the book story, it was very empty and quite. Apart from her conversation. She pulled a chair up next to Calli's. She had a bit of time before the bus that she had to catch to go back she apartment she was staying at came.
